WHO WE ARE
Since 1957, the Huntsville Madison County Builders Association has been the area’s professional association for the building industry serving over 1,000 members. This organization is comprised of builders, developers, trade contractors, suppliers, lending institutions, title companies, engineers, attorneys, and various other types of businesses that have a relationship with the building industry.
WHAT WE DO
The Association’s services and activities foster the professionalism of its members and provide a forum for education and information exchange for the benefit of the industry. HMCBA monitors and exerts influence upon issues and regulations affecting the housing industry, particularly those related to availability and affordability.

Every member of the HMCBA is also a member of the Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Both organizations continually monitor legislative and regulatory issues that affect the home building industry. Powerful Advocacy. Every day NAHB, HBAA, and HMCBA fight to defeat excessive regulations that are driving up the cost of housing, helping you put money and time back in your pocket. On a local level, we keep you informed promptly and provide opportunities for you to make a difference. We are your regulatory watchdog and political advocate.
Critical News and Information. Knowledge is your best defense in this rapidly changing industry and association membership is the most authoritative source of housing information. Your membership ensures that you’ll be in-the-know.
Insurance Programs. One of the most important benefits, the Alabama Home Builders Self Insurers Fund, offers an alternative to traditional workers compensation insurance. Since 2008, anyone with employees working on a new residential construction site must be covered by workers comp insurance. Without it, an injured worker’s lawsuit could put you out of business. In 2017, HMCBA members received $2,165,621 back in dividends and the Association itself received $1,790.67 in dividends.
Invaluable Networking. With an alliance of more than 1,000 local members, association membership is a one-stop networking shop. Monthly general membership meetings, membership directories, golf tournaments and other special events are just a few of the many ways for members to meet and build relationships with fellow professionals, potential customers and suppliers. Members are always encouraged to do business with other members first.
Education. From Educational seminars and workshops to council meetings and programs, the Association offers its members many opportunities to stay current on topics related to the industry.
Marketing Opportunities. HMCBA offers both consumer and member-to-member advertising, giving you the ability to increase your company’s visibility and credibility. Promote your company to public by exhibiting in the annual Building, Home and Remodeling Show or Fall Home and Garden Show, advertising on www.hmcba.org, or participating in the Parade of Homes. Member Referral Service. Consumers call the HMCBA office and view the Online Membership Directory daily looking for builders, remodelers, subcontractors and service providers.
